Kent all-rounder Azhar Mahmood starred with the bat as the Auckland Aces beat Canterbury Wizards to win the HRV Twenty 20 cup in New Zealand.

Mahmood his 44 of just 29 balls as the Aces posted 196 for 5 off their 20 overs and bowled Canterbury out for just 152, winning the game by 44 runs.

The former Pakistan all-rounder has been in spectacular form for the Auckland Aces in his stint down under, hitting a century in a game against Canterbury last week.

Following his return to the UK on Tuesday, Mahmood will continue his pre-season preparations with Kent whilst looking at what other Twenty 20 offers are on the table.

Mahmood has put his name forward for the Indian Premier League and on recent form, he could be snapped up by one of the franchises when the auction takes place on February 4th.
